The development program will operate a football Institute that provides opportunities for adolescents to develop football career pathways to international standard.

The Clubs Football Philosophy

We believe in teaching the foundations of football techniques while developing the whole person. While teaching football skills is paramount, we also want our players to learn sportsmanship, leadership, and team play.

The development program players develop greater confidence and self-esteem through football. We want our players to enjoy football throughout their whole life because the coaching curriculum stresses a fun experience in a learning atmosphere.

Our players should play with purpose, play with confidence, relaxed and be able to express themselves. A strong work ethic is paramount both in possession and when we have lost possession.

Our player should be mentally strong, display intelligence and bravery and the ability to apply their Football knowledge in every situation. Players shall show a desire to play their football and be creative, inventive and not afraid to make mistakes.

Our coaching staff will always encourage our players to;

  • Pass with purpose
  • Be comfortable on the ball and in possession
  • Be able to move the ball quickly and effectively
  • Have the ability to work and play in tight situations and areas
  • Pass accurately under pressure
  • As a team be able to get the ball wide to create goal scoring chances from crosses

Above every thing else every one, player, parent, coach and spectators should all enjoy the game!

The Clubs Goals

The development program is designed to help our players reach their highest potential and ultimately to prepare you for the next level of football. It will test your desire and passion for the game. Players will also learn how to re-evaluate their present standard of play as well as raise their level of achievement. Our development program is designed to make the player a better all-around football player.

They will learn technical manoeuvres from the simple to the most advanced. They will develop tactical habits and game and space awareness that can become the foundation for advanced tactical behavior. This will help will develop the physical behavior so that their performance of skills and techniques will reach a high level of proficiency. In addition to improving their physical game, we will build and improve mental capacity for football. Our program will make players become more aware of team mates and improve decision making during the game.

The development program football provides all year round training outdoors and indoors; it reinforces the learning with multimedia tools such as the Internet and DVDs; and utilizes our unique club facilities and professional player pathways. The development program aims to produce young players of the standard required to compete at an elite or professional level either in Australia or overseas.

Our objective is to leave our players with a better understanding of themselves and the “beautiful game”. This wealth of knowledge and newly acquired motivation will assure player improvements in which you can continue to develop and grow in every aspect of the total game within the development program.

To summarize, players will gain a clear understanding of the mental and physical requirements of football at the highest level. Our training will push players mentally and physically to improve, expand and increase their abilities. This could become the ultimate challenge for their Football passion

As an organization, our goal is to develop players in the following areas:

1. Be mobile on and off the ball. Players must have the ability to receive, play, and move.
2. Ability to score goals. Players must not pass off scoring responsibility and must have the ability to create and finish off scoring chances.
3.

Develop technical/skill speed. Players need to have the ability to play under pressure and in tight situations.

4. Develop Football vision. Players must know what to do with the ball prior to receiving it & must think two to three plays ahead.
5. Athleticism. Players must have good speed, ability to change pace, strength, and flexibility.
6. Ability to attack and defend. All players must have the ability to defend with intensity, as well as to have the ability to attack with urgency & transition.
7.

Defensive principles. Knowing when and where to play high pressure, low pressure, man-to-man, or zone defence, both as a player and as a team.

8. Football personalities. We encourage players to bring out their character on the field, to be competitive, to play with heart and pride, and to be an asset to the chemistry of the team.
9.

Passing. Players need to have the ability to play the ball from point A to point B with accuracy and to be able to play balls both long, short, driven, and flighted.

10.

Become a student of the game. Players to need to take a "coach" approach and must look to learn more about the game by watching and following high level football.

11.

Goalkeepers will receive specific goalkeeping training and coaching with the Institute. Along with the related goals from above, football Institute goalkeepers will have specific goals (i.e. distribution, technique and reading of the game) during the training camp and throughout the tour.

Coaches & Staff

The development program is directed by football people for football players. We understand that our coaches are an integral part of our success. As a result, we hand pick the coaches who lead our teams domestically & overseas. Our coaches are experienced national & international travellers and are familiar with the unique dynamics of all competitions. The development program provides every player with the necessary training, personalized attention, encouragement, and discipline he or she needs to succeed. To ensure this, our staff to player ratio is less than 1 to 8.

In addition to the top level coaching that each of our players receive, each player has access to medical personnel/trainers to care for our players. The development program has paid coaches/ management /administrative staff to ensure that all the logistics are handled with the utmost quality and attention to our high standards.

To be part of this setup please feel free to contact the Junior coaching director Drago on 0410 508 566 or email juniors@whitecityfc.com.au
